National poet Kazi Nazrul Islam's 125th birth anniversary was celebrated yesterday. He was born in Churulia village of Jamuria police station of Asansol in Burdwan district on this day of Bengal 1306. His nickname is 'Dukhu Mia'. Father's name is Kazi Fakir Ahmed and mother's name is Zaheda Khatun. This poet was born in undivided Bengal like a comet with the message of liberation of subjugated Bengalis. President Mohammad Sahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave separate messages on the occasion. He came with the message of betrayal, love, equality, humanity and liberation of exploited people. This year, the nation celebrates the birth anniversary of the poet with deep respect and love, keeping the theme of 'Nazraul and Non-Communal Spirit' in front. Various organizations and institutions of Sylhet organized various programs on this occasion. These included Nazrul Sangeet, scheduled speeches, recitations, tributes at Nazrul Chatter and poetry and dance.
