World Family Day was celebrated yesterday in Sylhet like the rest of the country. The day is celebrated with the aim of inculcating the mindset of maintaining the traditions of the joint family. Due to the urgency of time, when the matter of joint family or keeping family ties is gradually becoming unimportant in this society, the importance of celebrating this World Family Day today is immense. Blood ties mean family ties. It is the moral duty of all of us to build and maintain genuine good relations among all members of the family. Moreover, in our traditional social system, an important condition for a good life is good family ties. World Family Day is celebrated since 1995. In particular, after the industrial revolution, the process of creating apathy towards the family began in the western developed countries of the world. The traditional bonds of the family began to break. In this situation, the United Nations insists on creating public awareness to keep family ties intact. In 1993, according to the decision of the United Nations General Assembly, May 15 was announced as International Family Day. A discussion meeting was held on the occasion of the day at Moulvibazar Collectorate yesterday. Deputy Commissioner Dr. Urmi Binte Salam was the chief guest. Leaders of various social, cultural and women's organizations, family members, public representatives were present in the meeting. It is jointly organized by District Administration and District Women Affairs Directorate.
