World Sports Journalism Day is being celebrated today in Sylhet like the rest of the country. Almost a hundred years ago on July 2, 1924, the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) made its debut in France. About 167 countries including Bangladesh belong to this international organization. Sports Journalism Day is observed every year to commemorate the day. World Sports Journalism Day is observed to raise public awareness about the role and importance of sports journalism. Bangladesh Sports Press Association (BSPA) is the only recognized body of AIPS in Bangladesh. BSPA Sylhet branch congratulates all sports journalists, writers, players, organizers, sponsors and everyone related to sports on this special day.

On the occasion of the day, BSPA Sylhet branch organized a cake cutting, discussion meeting and award ceremony at Sylhet district stadium today.
