International Mountain Day is being celebrated in Sylhet today, like the rest of the country. This year, the theme of the day is 'Mountain Solutions for a Sustainable Future - Innovation, Adaptation and Youth'. Mountain Day is celebrated all over the world as a strategy to protect mountains from destruction. The United Nations declared December 11 as International Mountain Day in 2003 with the aim of improving the quality of life of people in hilly areas and ensuring a sustainable future. Since then, the day has been celebrated in different countries every year.


On this occasion, various government and non-government organizations have taken detailed programs. The programs include seminars and discussions.
