International Day against Drug Abuse and Illegal Trafficking is being celebrated today in Sylhet like the rest of the country. The purpose of observing this day is to strengthen action planning and cooperation to achieve the goal of building a world society free of drugs. The day is celebrated on the call of the United Nations. In 1987, the United Nations General Assembly decided to observe this day. On the occasion of the day, government and private organizations are holding various programs. The program includes rallies and discussion meetings.
