Sylhet and Sunamganj's low-lying areas have been inundated and the flood situation has worsened. The Flood Forecasting and Warning Center of the Water Development Board said yesterday that the flood situation may worsen in some places of Moulvibazar including these two districts. Sardar Uday Raihan, executive engineer of the center said, heavy rains have caused flooding in the lower areas of Sylhet and Sunamganj. The Meteorological Department said that the rain will increase in the next two days. As a result, the flood situation in that region may worsen. He said that the water is flowing above the danger level at Sunamganj and Kanighat points of Surma river and Sari point of Sari river. As a result of the rain, the water in the Kushiara river in Moulvibazar district has risen. Flood situation has been created in some areas there. In this situation, new areas are being flooded in Goainghat of Sylhet. As 315 km area of the upazila was submerged in flood water, people of about 206 villages are trapped in water. Water is flowing over the communication roads from Goainghat upazila headquarters to Sylhet city. As a result road communication is cut off.
