Title
Meningitis vaccination mandatory for Hajj and Umrah
Details

Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport has issued new instructions regarding mandatory meningitis vaccination for Hajj and Umrah passengers. They issued these instructions in light of the new health regulations of the Saudi Arabian government. This vaccination instruction will be effective from February 10. Yesterday, the airport's executive director Kamrul Islam wrote a letter to all airlines and airport-related parties in the country regarding the instructions.

The instructions state that this rule will be applicable to all those who are going to perform Umrah or Hajj or to visit Saudi Arabia on a visit visa. They must get the meningitis vaccination at least 10 days before traveling to Saudi Arabia. The vaccination certificate must be carried with them during the trip. The instructions also state that it is not mandatory for children under 1 year to get this vaccination. If someone has been vaccinated within the last 3 years, they will not have to get vaccinated again upon entering Saudi Arabia.

Earlier, the Civil Aviation Department of Saudi Arabia has already issued instructions to all airlines in this regard to implement this rule from February 10. In addition to this vaccination, Umrah pilgrims from some countries have been urged to get vaccinated against coronavirus, influenza, yellow fever, and polio.
